Azella Test Security Agreement

In Arizona, children whose first language is not English participate in the Arizona English Language Learner Assessment (AZELLA) test to determine their level of English. Based on the results of the AZELLA, students obtain a score comprising a number and a level. The steps are Pre-Emergent, Emergent, Basic, Intermediate and Proficient. Only students whose AZELLA score is not competent are admitted to an ELD classroom.
